The field of Healthcare include a large variety of professionals apart from doctors and nurses. One such team of professionals is the Paramedical Technicians. These include X-ray technologists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Dieticians, Food Service Workers, Dental Mechanics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Safety Engineers, Pharmacists and so forth.
Paramedical experts play a very important role in helping the doctor make an accurate diagnosis for treatment, cure and overall care of patients. While earlier, the term paramedical technicians was used only with reference to emergency medical technicians (EMT), today, the term includes a wide range of technicians that assist doctors and other medical professionals in providing accurate and timely medical intervention - either for diagnostic (as in the case of radiology technicians, dental hygiene technicians and so on) or therapeutic (as in the case of EMTs, respiratory technicians and so forth) purposes.
The job descriptions, eligibility requirements, and aptitudes required for each of these technicians tends to differ. While they all work in the medical setup, their roles are vastly different from one another. What binds them together is the nature of their role in the medical profession - that of working with some kind of machinery / apparatus and assisting specialist doctors in the use and application of these. The salary drawn by paramedical technicians ranges from Rs. 4000/- to 6500/- per month at the initial level, to about 8000/- to 12000/- per month with seniority and experience.
