The National Institute of Design (NID) supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, with campuses at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru announced the dates of their yearly entrance exam – NID Design Aptitude Test 2016. Candidates who wish to apply for graduate and post-graduate courses at the three campuses and for the GDPD programme at NID Vijayawada must apply for the NID – DAT 2016 which will be conducted on the 10th January, 2016.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) –The four-year undergraduate programme in design is offered at NID – Ahmedabad with specializations in –

* Industrial Design
* Textile Design
* Apparel Design
* Lifestyle Accessory Design
GDPD programme at NID Vijayawada – Graduate Diploma Programme in Design.
Master of Design (M.Des) – The two-and-a-half-year post-graduate programme is offered at the 3 campuses of NID – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar. Specializations include various fields available distinctively at the 3 campuses.
Eligibility:
Age Criteria
For B.Des: Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years of age for general category and 23 years of age for reserved category on or before 1st July, 2016.
For M.Des and GDPD: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years of age for general category and 33 years of age for reserved category on or before 1st July, 2016.
Educational Criteria
For B.Des: Applicants who have passed/will appear for the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying exam from any recognized board of education (by law) in India or abroad during the year 2015-16.
For M.Des and GDPD: Applicants who have successfully completed their graduation (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in any discipline or completed their Diploma in Design under the 10+2+4 system from any recognized university (by law) in India or abroad.
Application Procedure:
Candidates must apply online on the NID official website. Fill in the required details, upload necessary documents and pay the fees online or by demand draft.
Exam Structure:
The Design Aptitude Test shall have ONE question paper (for all courses) with duration of 3 hours. The question paper will be in English and carry 100 marks. The test will consist of both objective and subjective type questions. After successfully clearing the DAT, candidates will have to undergo certain studio examinations distinctive to each course.

Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be held on Sunday, 10th January, 2016 from 10am to 1pm.
