TIFR Visiting Students Research Programme 2017

 

The renowned Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in one of its initiating programmes has announced a unique project for students with phenomenal academic records. The TIFR Visiting Students Research Programme (VSRP) aims to promote and build a keen scientific approach paramount in the field of Research & Development. The VSRP - 2017 is scheduled to be conducted at TIFR, Mumbai from 08th May 2017 to 5th July 2017.

 

 Programme Objective:

Through this unique programme, TIFR aims to expose students to the importance and implication of Research in various areas of study like -  Mathematics, Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer & System Sciences.

 

 Logistic Details:

The VSRP - 2017 will be held at TIFR Mumbai. Participating students will be paid a stipend of Rs. 7000/- and shall be provided with a travel allowance for sleeper class of railway fare and standard hostel accommodation.

 

 Eligibility Criteria:

Students having completed two years of undergraduate studies from reputed institutes studying any one of the following subjects may apply - Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer & Systems Sciences.

 

Please Note: Candidates should not have participated in VSRP before.

 

 Selection Process:

Students’ academic performance, write up and referrals would be the basis for selection. There is no other test or interview. (Except for the Math Programme).

 

 Application Process:

Students must apply online on the TIFR official website -  www.tifr.res.in

 

The application form needs to be submitted with the following -

♦ Scanned photo (.jpg file of size not exceeding 100kb) of a passport size photograph.
♦ Students can select up to 2 departments, and for each department, they can fill in two areas of interest from the options available in the menu. Please read the Information Brochure before you fill this section.
♦ Students also need to submit a write up of up to 400 words on their interests of preferred fields of study. The write up should not contain special characters; use of equations in write-ups is strongly discouraged.

 

The link for filling up the Referee Report Form online will be sent by email to both Referees after complete registration.

 

Students from remote areas who do not have access to internet can send a request for application form along with a self-addressed stamped envelope of Rs.20/- to “The Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Homi Bhabha Road, Colaba, Mumbai-400005”.
