Introduction:-
Who says that the defense forces are only for the men and not for the faint hearted! well in the rapid strides that women are talking and are capturing bastion after bastion, the defense services are not left far behind.....
The Indian Army introduced the Women Special Entry scheme for Officers (WSES-O), in 1992. Once commissioned, women officers have the option of joining any of the following branches: the Army Services Crops (ASC), the Army Ordinance Crops (AOC), the Army Education Crops (AEC), judges Advocates General JAG), Engineers and Signals and Intelligence.
Selection process entails training at the officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai for a period of six months and thereafter cadets become officers and Officers are commissioned as Lieutenants for an initial five years, followed by the option to extend their service by another five years.
