Should I Become an X-Ray Tech?

Description of the stream / field:


There are many students who are now opting for this career as an x-ray technician. Unlike radiologic technicians, who are trained to deal with a wide variety of equipments, X-Ray technicians are trained only on the use of X-Ray machines. They help physicians to diagnose and treat broken bones, disease and other health concerns with the uses radiography to capture images on film. X-Ray technicians usually work in hospitals or large clinic or laboratory settings and should have the ability to stand for long periods as well as to move disabled patients to gain proper positioning during the x-ray procedure.

Eligibility and Duration:


Students interested in the career as an x-ray technician should complete 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology. There are various diploma and certificate courses available for students which range from 1-2 years duration. These courses should be recognized by technical boards.
